    There was a problem with the code that downloads the scores off the web timing out, but with fewer teams left it should do better. If there is a problem try refreshing the scores database. If that still doesn’t work let me know.

    Now I (and others) are missing two points for UNLV. The reason I really want this fixed, is that for the first time I’ve ever been in this pool, for as long as I’ve known Andy Spencer (abut 8 years), I’ve never been in first place until today!

    Aha! I see the problem now.
    It isn’t an anti-UNLV bias, it is anti-Stebbins bias.
    My apologies to those others that had UNLV selected. Seems you got caught by my systems overzealous Stebbins-filter…
    Problem should be corrected now (no, really, it should). And kudos to Dan Starr who currently sits in first place with 10 points and 5 teams (one of which is UNLV) remaining.

    Every year I complain about how much work the pool is, and how I’m busy, yada, yada. This year I was dutifully (desperately, really) preparing some work to present at a conference, which happened to exactly coincide with the NCAA selection program. On top of that, the meeting was in France, and I opted to cruise around the Loire Valley on a bike instead of sitting in front of the computer hacking out emails (you can read some of the adventure on my webpage, which should be magically linked herein).

    When I returned, I had over a hundred emails from Jellø’s little applet (some of them tests). It’s good to see that the pool has taken on a life of it’s own; I’d like to think that if Jellø and I kicked off next February that you’d all make it to the funeral just so you could exchange picks.

    Next year…next year, I’ll be on the ball again.

    NOTE: Lewin “apparently” changed his pick from Indiana to Purdue before games tipped. That’s what my email tells me. I’d be suspicious, but how much can anyone that short know about basketball…?
